Gear Up

Looking for a Microsoft site that will help you approach your customers better?

Try Microsoft Gear Up which includes:

  • A Licensing Configurator (updated monthly)
  • Sales Support Centre (includes evaluation software to send to your customers)
  • Customer Ready Proposals (includes promotions and cross sell/ upsell recommendations)

The site is split into sections; sales, marketing, and training. For all those ‘techies’ or BDMs out there who would like a little inspiration then you should check it out.

And if you have time to read through the site and do a little ‘cherry picking’ then I suggest you take the messages you subscribe to, turn it into a message that suits your business and give it to the clients in a way you feel comfortable. By my experience, customers see through the glossy pictures of strangers laughing over a conference call (who laughs over those?!) and want you to cut to the chase. They want to know what have you got that answers their problems and what have you got that takes them forward?

One of the things that I picked up from the WWPC in Boston was the Demo Showcase which I know the Microsofties are keen to promote. Before you say ‘yeah yeah, same old same old’ have a look and see if using VPC demos of the Microsoft Suite will help you sell more and get those ‘pennies dropping’ with your prospective customer base. Showing how you catch a fish is a lot better than reading them ‘how to fish 101′.

You won’t know, unless you give it a go! Take some time out from running around and invest a few minutes working out how you can take messages that vendors are going to be channeling via you into something that resonates with your business strategy…
