Open Licensing… what’s it all about?
September 11th, 2007 at 8:08pm |
My colleague Cat from our Licensing Team came along to listen to me present last night and see what the London IT Pro Group was all about. Rather than take a back seat, the Group was good enough to get her involved and so the discussion of why is licensing so complex?
One of things about licensing is that it is more complex the less you deal with it and so for those who don’t know how to (or want to?) get their heads round it, Cat put together some brief points explaining what Open Licensing is for the Group. I thought I would share them with you also:
Open Value
-
Stay current
-
More from technology investments with software assurance
-
Entry level 5 or more licenses
-
Spread payments annually
-
Enjoy a host of benefits, more value, manageability and assistance
-
Choose ‘company-wide’ option for additional savings.
-
5-250 users
Open Volume
-
Potentially save your customers even more if they are available to make a larger initial up-front in one or more pools (applications, systems, servers)
-
Entry level 5 or more licenses in each pool
-
Academic/charity pricing available
-
5 or more users
Open business
-
Customers can save on estimated retail prices
-
Initial order 5 or more licenses or one server licenses
-
Can combine any set of Microsoft products to qualify

Thanks for the info. on the licensing guide - I’ve ordered our copy already. Should be very useful as a reference when we get asked those sticky questions by clients!
