“Daring to be Different”
So hopefully those who attended the LiveMeeting session found it beneficial. Thank you to all of those who have emailed me as a result of it and I’ll be following up on them all later this week.
If you missed it and want to catch a recording of it (it’s about 40 minutes long) then you can download it from here.
I’ll be at the London IT Pro Group meeting in September talking about it further so it’ll be good to see you if you can make it. I much prefer presenting to a group of people than LiveMeeting… I like to get others involved and encourage people to share ideas, it’s the best way for everyone to learn something new!
On the point of ‘daring to be different’, I’ve got a few Partners popping in tomorrow to meet our SMB Sales Team. I’ve been running some internal training here and the subject for this week is ‘understanding the Partner’ so it should be interesting.
When I was out in Denver, Gordon Frazer said at the UK Partner Meeting ‘how can you sell what you don’t know?’. So I’ve taken his point (which we all knew as that’s why we, as SBS users, sell SBS!) and have echoed it in the corridors of Westcoast and with much success.
Four weeks in and I have a team who are more confident and excited about Microsoft which is really great to see. Tomorrow will be particularly interesting as it has never been done before - however, as I said in my presentation, “if you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got.” (Anthony Robbins).
Just goes to prove, that no matter where you are in the channel, the principles stay the same, it’s just how you execute it which makes the difference.
p.s. you would have wanted to see how pleased I was when one of our MS team specialists asked Microsoft in week three ‘what’s a good elevator pitch for Vista?’ - perfect question and I was equally pleased to see that MS gave an answer but came back by email to follow up with an even better one. Good going from both sides - the answer may not sit right with everyone but it was great to see the effect the training is having on everyone involved. It’ll be interesting to ask the same question tomorrow night!
