Small Business Forum | 29th November 2007

Hi Guys,

A thread has already started up regarding an event a Small Business Community event that we (as in me and the guys at Westcoast) will be hosting. So I thought I would talk briefly about it here just to give you the heads up.

Although the finer details can’t be released to you just yet, I can tell you the following so that you can mark it in your diaries:

  • The all-day event will take place on the 29th November 2007 at Microsoft UK (Thames Valley Park) - make sure you mark it in your diaries!
  • There will be pre-event get together in a pub the night before - this worked really well for those who attended the Symposium in February so we’re going to run it again.
  • The content of the day will be a mixture of keynote speakers and workshops. The latter will include vendors breaking their products to show how quick it can be re-built (well we all know this stuff works right out of the box right?!).
  • There will be plenty of opportunity for Partner networking and the chance to engage with some key stakeholders in our Community.

Like the SBS Community, this is not a Microsoft-owned event but they will be heavily involved giving you the chance to chat to those who are shaping the SBSC programme as well as those who have a hand in the products that we are selling now and in 2008.

I hope you can make it. I’ll have the chance to show you what I’ve been up to in the last few months (it’s been seven weeks already!) as I like to keep this site independent from my daily commercial activities.

I’ve posted this because I know it’ll benefit Partners in the Community. This event will be aimed not only at existing Microsoft Partners but those who are thinking about getting on the MS ‘radar’. The more Partners that become involved, the greater the incentive for MS and other Community focussed vendors such as Symantec to help endorse and facilitate our activities.

I hope you can make it. It would be great to see you.

Susanne

p.s. if you have any ideas of what you would like to see at this event or have some feedback from other Partner events which you feel can help positively shape it, then please let me know and I’ll see what I can do.

p.p.s. I’ll be visiting the Scottish and Irish Communities in the next few months hopefully so I’ll bring the best bits to those.

  1. I’d be happy to attend both the night-before pub meet and the day event itself - have been looking forward to another opportunity to meet other SBSC’ers since the Symposium back in Feb.

Happy to offer a car-share to anyone in the West Midlands who would like to help cut their carbon footprint and put up with my shocking choice of Radio listening too - just get in touch (richard at netlink-it.com).

Anyone have any suggestions over accommodation in the TVP area for the event? I’ve never been to TVP so am unsure of best choice in hotels, etc.

  2. Hello Richard,

There are two hotels in Reading Town centre a short walk from the pub which you may find useful. They are the Novotel and the Ibis. Drop me an email if you need their contact details.

    Thanks
