Do You Blog for Business? Part 2

A few days ago I posted a question asking for the community to offer any examples of where their blogging has given them new business. I got some great responses (thanks guys!) and I’d like to show you the fruits of one blogger’s efforts.

Vijay Riyait of iQubed posted the following comment on my blog:

“Microsoft in the US contacted me after reading my Blog and my thoughts on both Windows and Open Source solutions and wanted to do a case study. They have just finished the case study which will shortly be on the Microsoft.com case studies site and used within WPC and posted up within Microsoft Campus in Redmond.

I think that’s a pretty cool reach for a small business partner to have via a blog!”

I pleased to be able to show you the case study that Microsoft have just published on their site! Well done Vijay!

Readycrest has a customer case study published also. We put a lot of effort into getting to that point (as did Vijay) but if you’ve got something worth talking about that a key vendor (not just Microsoft) can see business value in, then you have the opportunity to get some PR that you may otherwise be unable to afford.

  1. Susanne, thanks for this! It’s great to be featured on the UKSMBGIRL blog!

Many people ask me where I find the time to blog and “don’t I do any real work?”, well here is my reply! Things are changing rapidly and how we put ourselves out there is becoming less about “brochures” and “push advertising”. It was fantastic to have Microsoft come to me and what a great way they operate. I can’t imagine any other vendor doing a poactive search out on the blogosphere like this. So, can you afford not to have time to blog is my question?

Running a small business is just sheer terror punctuated by moments of elation and this is one of those “elation” moments The SBSC Programme really has given iQubed a solid foundation on which to build a business and more importantly credibility. If I was to say I’m now doing a MOSS 2007 project, you can see how far iQubed has come in such a short time. I can’t imagine not being a part of the Small Business Community even if I was working in the Enterprise space, I would want some sort of “social” or “honourary” membership!
