Do you blog for business?
June 5th, 2007 at 5:59pm |
If you or someone you know blogs and has gained new business from it (or positive PR stories) I would really like to hear about them.
Why? It’s for my presentation at the Symposium and I wanted some community partner examples.
Just think, it’s your chance to get your five minutes of fame at the Symposium without you even being there (ooooh!).
Let me know either by posting a comment or emailing me directly.
Thanks in advance.
Susanne,
We got one of our best clients who read Chad’s blog and decided that we were the best ones to do business with. this client has been with us for three years.
Thanks Amy!
That’s a great example
I also blog, and have customers regularly tell me they read my blog.
I also had one tell me during a proposal meeting (when I was discussing the importance of managing backups) that she had already read my blog article about the topic.
We signed that customer.
Build trust!!
Thanks Dave - I get the same thing. A blog seems to re-inforce everything that you state in proposal meetings and if the client is reading it off their own back then half the battle is won!
Does anyone else have any interesting stories about their blogs?
Microsoft in the US contacted me after reading my Blog and my thoughts on both Windows and Open Source solutions and wanted to do a case study. They have just finished the case study which will shortly be on the Microsoft.com case studies site and used within WPC and posted up within Microsoft Campus in Redmond.
I think that’s a pretty cool reach for a small business partner to have via a blog!
That’s another great example!
I know that many of my posts are read and discussed internally by Microsoft and other key vendors so it’s a great way of reaching out to those that perhaps we would otherwise never know!
Thanks Vijay and let us know when your case study is up on MS’s website!
I’ve got several customers who read the Funcave. It’s laid plenty of groundwork for SBS, Windows Mobile and Sharepoint (strangely enough).
Even the non-business posts (of which there are many at FC) serve as conversation starters with clients.
On a more direct note, I discussed blogging, podcasting & vlogging with a new customer just the other day as a way to promote and build their business. Showed the Executive Director the effect of a blog on Google rankings, which blew her mind.
Exactly! Thanks Chris - it’s very similar to what this site does for me here.
I blog - I think my customers (partners) read my blog and are able to do business as a result of it. I would also like to think that I am able to provide a human face on the monolithic organisation I am often (although not always) representing.

[…] A few days ago I posted a question asking for the community to offer any examples of where their blogging has given them new business. I got some great responses (thanks guys!) and I’d like to show you the fruits of one blogger’s efforts. […]
