MS Evangelist slates OneNote?!
Let’s get one thing clear… OneNote rocks!
Everyday I read a wide range of information sources that talk about things that, whilst I may not need it now, I know that I will need to refer to it at some point soon. That’s where OneNote comes in; cut and paste the quote or article and hey presto! you’ve got a record of the information including the weblink!
Want to share a some work with your colleagues and don’t want to go as far as investing in Groove? OneNote’s the answer - you can even record online presentations to it.
It’s a digital scrapbook! A way of recalling all those things you used to say “I remember I found this article by someone which would be really useful in backing up my point.”
Granted, from a sales perspective, it’s not an easy sell “digital notebook” (it doesn’t really make me go running off to the shops to get it), but leave it with the client for a week to play with and you’re not going to get it back!
It’s just not possible to “just REMEMBER things” - life is too busy, too fast paced, too up in the air to remember what we were doing last week (I love Outlook!) so don’t ask me to source the latest security figures from Symantec or the latest IDC statistics without giving me a few hours to do so.
People want to write so many things down because for some it’s a way of imprinting it on the brain. Combine OneNote with a Tablet PC and you’ve got even more features that make working life so much easier.
I’ve met too many partners who have tried and tested OneNote who won’t give it up - we know what we’re talking about!
Maybe Dan should join in on the ‘flame war’?!
