Sending letters to an Outlook contact in 2007

In Outlook 2003, you were able to find a contact and send them a letter quickly and easily. Now it seems in Office 2007, you have to pull the contact’s details through from Outlook using Word only. This process seems to me to be more complex and I wonder why the methods of communication from a contact card are only ‘email’, ‘meeting’, and ‘call’? I don’t want to add address blocks or greeting lines… I just want to click on Joe Bloggs and select ’send a letter’.
I asked this question a few months back during the Beta testing but it seems that it was done on purpose. Anyone got any ideas why?
