When uninstalling Beta TR2 doesn’t go quite to plan…

On a role after my Vista install, I decided to upgrade Office 2007 Beta Tech. Refresh 2 to the RTM code. As in previous Office upgrades, I uninstalled existing files except it wouldn’t let me uninstall Visio, Project Professional and a few other add ons.
Vista kindly removed them from the Uninstall Program list because it couldn’t uninstall them properly either. The thing is, deleting it from a list doesn’t eliminate the problem and made it harder to find what the problem was! So here’s what I did:
Renamed the Office12 folder (just in case I need it!)
- Downloaded CCleaner - free!
- Went into the tools section of the programme which shows programs that Windows may otherwise not
- Uninstalled the cheeky little language packs that were sitting there and a few other Office 2007 names including the PDF/XPS add-in (which seems to be the culprit preventing the RTM install).
And hey presto!
No more unhelpful error appearing on me!
Yes, I’m happy with myself because I was anticpating hours of banging my head against the wall! ![]()
